An amazing number of new all-electric vehicle models are coming in the next few years as the world gets closer and closer to an all-electric car future. The year 2022 offered more brand-new model EVs than ever before. Over 60 new electrified models hit showrooms from both venerable automakers and exciting new upstart companies with an eye on the future.

Today’s EVs come in a wide range of sizes and shapes. There are speedy sports cars, rugged pickup trucks, sleek crossover SUVs, and more. Let’s start off this look at future EVs with an appreciative nod to all of the dazzling new all-electric wonders that are debuting this year. They are listed in alphabetical order by automaker. Ranges and rates are manufacturer and EPA estimates. Actual mileage and charge times may vary.

The Audi e-tron S offers one electric motor in the front and two in the rear for a staggering 496-horsepower and 717 pound-feet of torque. Pretty amazing for a four-door SUV.

BMW’s i4 midsize sedan is aimed straight at the Tesla Model 3. It packs more performance punch than a gasoline-powered M3 and will take you over 300 miles on a charge. The BMW iX also rolled out in 2022 with a crossover SUV version featuring 516-horsepower.

General Motors is stepped up with the Cadillac Lyriq, due out by the end of 2022. This stylish and luxurious sedan will have the latest bells and whistles including impressive range and power, and GM’s new Ultium battery technology.

The Ford F-150 Lightning is setting the truck world on fire and is sold out for pre-orders. America’s favorite pickup goes all-electric with a 300-mile range and 426 horses on tap.

Likewise, the GMC Hummer EV has sold out of its MSRP $112,595 Launch Edition that boasts 1,000-horsepower and a zero to 60 mph time of just three seconds. Range is a mighty 350-plus miles.

If you need a hypercar in your garage, the Lotus Evija has debuted with a neck-cracking 1,972-horsepower and 1,257 pound-feet of torque. The racetrack ready Evija will cost you a cool two million bucks based on the vehicle's MSRP.

Mercedes-Benz is leaping into EV production with the dashing EQE luxury sedan and EQS SUV. Range for these top shelf cruisers will be close to 400 miles and they should appear in showrooms by the end of the year.

Nissan’s Ariya midsize crossover EV arrived this year in both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive variants with up to 389-horsepower. It includes many of the high tech wonders first designed for the Leaf but now in the very popular crossover package.

The Porsche Macan EV joins its brother the Taycan sports car as the latest all-electric car from Germany and this one is an SUV. Rumor has it that a Turbo version is coming soon.

The Rivian R1S off road SUV will join the R1T pickup truck by the end of the year. This rugged yet futuristic trendsetter will be available with up to four electric motors and 750 horsepower for blinding performance.

Another adventure wagon is the Subaru Solterra. This is Subaru’s first EV, co-developed with Toyota. It features dual motors for all-wheel drive, 215 horsepower and more than 220 miles on a charge.

Toyota’s bZ4X is new to the market and very similar to the Solterra. It will be about the size of Toyota’s RAV4 with similar cargo space and plenty of high tech goodies. Expect it by the end of 2022.
