Fisker’s 2025 Ronin Grand Touring Rocket

Imagine a sleek and sexy four-door convertible from the same designer who brought us the BMW Z8 and the Aston Martin DB9. Now imagine that it is all-electric and capable to going an estimated 600 miles before it needs a charge and that it can blast you from zero to 60 miles per hour in just two second. Yes, we said two seconds. You would be imagining the new Fisker Ronin, due to hit the market in 2025.

The southern California-based Fisker Inc. is developing its third all-electric vehicle and the Ronin GT is named after the 1998 action film known for its hair-raising car chase scenes. It’s the brainchild of car designer Henrik Fisker whose BMW Z8 and several Aston Martin models are known for their elegant designs and captivating looks. He launched Fisker Automotive in 2007, and the fledgling company went bankrupt in 2014. Now he is back with his all-electric Fisker Inc. which opened its doors in 2016, taking it public in a SPAC deal in 2020.

High Demand and Record-Breaking Range

Fisker has received over 45,000 reservations for its first EV model, the $37,499 MSRP priced Ocean SUV which begins production this November. A second model called the PEAR is priced at $29,900 MSRP and is a five-passenger crossover model being developed by Foxconn, the Taiwanese Apple Inc. supplier that has turned EV maker. By the way, PEAR is an acronym for Personal Electric Automotive Revolution.

Now the Ronin sports car joins the future Fisker stable of EVs with its final design due in August 2023. Production in planned to start in the second half of 2024. Henrik Fisker tells us that he hopes “to achieve the world’s longest range for a production EV. Combined with extremely high levels of performance.” The idea is to beat the range limit currently held by the Lucid Air’s 520-mile EPA-estimated range and the projected 620-mile range of the Tesla Roadster that is coming in 2023. “Project Ronin will be a showcase for our internal engineering, powertrain, and software capabilities,” Fisker says.

Quote from Henri Fisker: "An innovagtive, high-tech electric GT sports car. Battery pack integrated into the structure for more efficiency and lower weight. Range over 550 miles."

Plant-Based and Performance

In a recent Instagram post, Henrik Fisker revealed that the Ronin will be a four-door convertible sports car offering three electric motors and all-wheel-drive that will include “unique” doors that promise to offer easy access to a “luxurious, sustainable vegan interior.” This may suggest that the car’s doors retract in some interesting manner and that the interior will be composed of environmentally friendly plant-based materials. He also claims that the Ronin is targeting the 600-plus mile range and blistering supercar-like performance of zero to 60 in a scant two seconds.

Other clues on the futuristic Ronin include, according to Fisker, that the new GT will have “an innovative battery design” that will incorporate the battery pack into the actual structure of the vehicle and that it will feature active aerodynamics and lightweight materials.

Ronin: Pricing and Production

Fisker Inc. has not released a projected suggest retail price for the Ronin as of yet, but rumors by automotive press have placed figures anywhere from $80,000 to $200,000 MSRP for this ultimate EV Luxury Grand Touring car. Time will tell.

In its first quarter earnings report for 2022, Fisker announced that reservations for its Ocean model have jumped by more than 50 percent over its previous earnings report. It further projects that it “does not expect to raise prices because of inflationary or commodity-cost pressures through 2023.” It concludes, however, that it “cannot guarantee pricing will remain static” as reservations for the Ocean continue to climb or for cars produced from 2024 onward.
