The average transaction price for a new car in the U.S. hit a record high in 2022, according to Kelley Blue Book. Interestingly, the average transaction price for an electric vehicle dropped slightly, largely driven by Tesla price cuts. However, EVs still cost 25 percent more on average to purchase.

While the U.S. car market shrunk overall in the first quarter of 2022, sales of electric vehicles rose by almost 60 per cent. This despite semiconductor shortages, high prices, and a generally tough car market. Why? Going electric has never made more sense.

Initial reports suggested the new manufacturing center would be making batteries, but that’s not quite true: the first Tesla-branded manufacturing facility will be producing equipment that will subsequently be used in the company’s existing “gigafactories” around the world.
