Throughout 2024, news and social media have been full of headlines claiming that EV sales have fallen off a cliff, and that consumers are abandoning electric cars. But, a look at the actual sales data tells the opposite story.

Now that GM EV owners have access to Tesla Superchargers, which car brands are next? Evidence suggests the next brands to obtain access will be Nissan, Volvo/Polestar, and Mercedes-Benz.

According to industry journal Automotive News, sales of hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and EVs hit new highs in the first quarter of 2024. Hybrid vehicles were the big winner, with sales more than doubling, and owners becoming even more loyal.

German heavyweight Volkswagen Group, which owns multiple brands, will invest $5 billion in a new joint venture with U.S.-based EV startup Rivian. Future Volkswagen Group products will leverage Rivian’s excellent EV software, and the two companies will co-develop future EV tech.

Tesla has once again slashed prices – just in time for the holidays. The latest discounts are only available for in-stock and demonstrator models listed on the automaker's website, but could save you thousands.

Even as Tesla works on the huge, expensive Cybertruck, it has been toiling away on a small, inexpensive EV set to start at under $30,000. A recent report suggest that Tesla's factory outside of Berlin, Germany will be the first place it's built.

Toyota has put almost 25 million hybrid and plug-in hybrids on the road globally. With a recent $5-billion investment in its North Carolina battery factory, the company is preparing to ramp up its battery manufacturing to support many new electric car models.

Toyota is making large and rapid investments to bring more EVs to market, and it recently signed a deal with LG to manufacture hundreds of thousands of EV batteries annually. The batteries will be made in Michigan for electric cars made in Kentucky.
