Throughout 2024, news and social media have been full of headlines claiming that EV sales have fallen off a cliff, and that consumers are abandoning electric cars. But, a look at the actual sales data tells the opposite story.

Toyota recently announced a massive expansion of its Kentucky manufacturing facility, which currently makes hybrid Camry and RAV4 models. The factory will produce a new large electric SUV, which should be eligible for federal incentives.

Toyota is making large and rapid investments to bring more EVs to market, and it recently signed a deal with LG to manufacture hundreds of thousands of EV batteries annually. The batteries will be made in Michigan for electric cars made in Kentucky.

The American Consumer Satisfaction Index surveyed almost 9,000 vehicle owners, and found that hybrid and electric car owners had higher levels of satisfaction than gas car owners. But EV owners did still face challenges with reliability and charging. What brands ranked best? Read on to find out.
