Best-Selling Non-Tesla EV: Honda Prologue
The Honda Prologue EV SUV is an unqualified success. Introduced in 2024, the Prologue, which shares its basic platform and many of its components with the Chevrolet Blazer EV, quickly became the second-best selling EV SUV in the U.S. in the second half of the year. In the final quarter of 2024, Prologue was actually the best-selling non-Tesla EV in the U.S., suggesting buyers love its combination of style, space, and range.
Why is the Prologue so successful? Honda’s own research suggests that people bought the Prologue because they like the Honda brand and were hungry to purchase an electric vehicle from a company they trust.

Extra Range and Power for 2025
That’s great news for Honda, a company that’s seeing growing success with the electric Prologue even as other manufacturers’ EV sales plateau or even shrink. But in a very competitive market, Honda knew it couldn’t rest on its laurels, and has introduced a number of upgrades to keep the 2025 Prologue competitive. Chief among them are improvements in range and power output.
Upgrades to hardware and software mean that Prologue’s EPA range estimate has grown by 12 miles to a total of 308 on the front-wheel drive model, while all-wheel drive models get a range increase of 13 miles to 294 for EX and Touring models, and 10 more for 283 miles on the top-level Elite with its larger wheels.
The range improvements, surprisingly, also come with increased power output. Front-wheel drive models get 8 extra horsepower for a total of 220, with 243 lb-ft of torque now standard. All-wheel drive models get a 12-hp bump to 300, and torque increases by 25 lb-ft to 355.
Access to Tesla Charging Built In
Prologue’s battery capacity remains unchanged. The 85-kWh lithium-ion battery pack resides within the vehicle’s long wheelbase, and can recharge at up to 150 kW – fast enough, says Honda, to add about 65 miles of range in about 10 minutes. That’s quick but hardly class-leading these days, when something like a Kia EV6 can charge almost twice as fast.
That said, the unchanged charging speed does come with a significant increase in convenience. Prologue models for 2025 can now access the Tesla Supercharger network natively, meaning road-tripping just became a lot easier. Over half of the Level 3 DC fast chargers in the U.S. are Tesla chargers, meaning that Honda drivers now get access to essentially twice as many chargers.
New Prologues also come with a standard NACS (North American Charging Standard, or SAE J3400) plug, which allows connections to Tesla chargers without an adapter, further increasing charging convenience.
Honda is one of the eight manufacturer partners involved in Ionna, a brand-new charging network that has pledged to build 30,000 new high-speed chargers across the U.S. and Canada.

2025 Honda Prologue Pricing and Availability
The updated Prologue is once again available in three well-equipped trim levels. The EX with a single motor has a starting MSRP of $47,400, and while the federal tax credit remains in effect, that means an effective MSRP of just $39,900. Adding a second motor for all-wheel drive capability adds $3,000 in price.
Standard features on all Prologues include built in Google functionality, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless phone charger, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, and the Honda Sensing suite of driver-assistance features.
Step up to the Touring model, with its more luxurious interior and additional standard features, and you’re looking at a starting MSRP of $51,700. Packed with all the options and glitzy 21-inch wheels, the top-level Elite is only available in all-wheel drive, for a starting MSRP of $57,900.
