Ford Home Charger Install Program

Late in 2024, Ford introduced what it calls the Ford Power Promise program, a suite of services designed to make switching to an electric vehicle easier. The program includes many dedicated services including an EV hotline, roadside assistance that can provide a tow to the nearest charger, and more. But by far its biggest benefit was offering consumers a complimentary home charger along with installation, helping drivers get the greatest financial and convenience benefits of switching to electric.

Early in January, Ford announced that the program, which was scheduled to end on January 2, 2025, would be extended through March 31. The Ford Power Promise is clearly working: the brand’s EVs continue to sell well, and in fact the Mustang Mach-E sold over 50,000 units in 2024 handily exceeding sales of the gas-powered Mustang coupe, which sold 44,000 units, and up 27 percent from 2023. That’s despite not being eligible for the federal $7,500 tax rebate in 2024, unless leased.

What Is the Ford Power Promise?

Simply put, the Ford Power Promise was developed by Ford based on feedback from customers and dealers on the barriers faced by drivers considering a switch to electric. Unsurprisingly, what they encountered when speaking to both groups were questions about how to set up charging at home, anxiety about what might happen on the road, and a desire for support through the ownership process.

Key components of the promise are convenient charging, battery confidence, and 24/7 support.

Charging at Home and Public Charging

Ford’s Power Promise therefore starts with a complimentary home charger as well as standard installation at the customer’s location of choice. Retail purchasers of a Mustang Mach-E, F-150 Lightning, or E-Transit cargo van get a complimentary Ford-branded home charger; Ford also provides standard installation of the charger through its partner, Qmerit.

On the road, Ford has signed agreements with dozens of the top charging providers, including Tesla, to make it simple for Ford EV drivers to find fast and convenient charging during road trips. The FordPass app, or the vehicle’s built-in navigation system, can seamlessly locate compatible chargers across all networks, and only one account is needed to activate charging on any of the networks.

Ford EV Perks

Like almost every EV on sale in the U.S., new Ford EVs come with an eight year/100,000-mile warranty for the high voltage battery, providing owners with peace of mind that the biggest and most expensive component of their vehicle will provide reliable service for many years. The latest data on battery degradation suggests that after all those years and miles, the EV battery should still deliver very close to its promised EPA range.

For times when drivers do run out of juice on a trip, Ford EVs come with complimentary roadside assistance with charging support. That’s right, you can call from the roadside to be towed to the nearest high-speed charger to top up your battery. A dedicated team of advisors with training on electric vehicles also offers continuous support to drivers with any questions or concerns they may have during their ownership journey.

Which Cars Get the Ford Power Promise?

The Ford Power Promise is available for retail customers who purchase or lease a model year 2024 or model year 2025 Mustang Mach-E, F-150 Lightning or E-Transit Cargo Van from participating Ford dealers.
