Hyundai Offers Free Home Charger with Ioniq 5

Electric cars offer their owners benefits in terms of reduced maintenance, lower operating costs, and convenience on top of their performance and zero emissions capability. The benefits of going electric are maximized if you’re able to charge at home: charging at home overnight on a Level 2 charger is much cheaper than using public chargers, and just like your phone, you’re able to leave home every day with a full charge.

Free EV Charger or $400 Credit

Hyundai is the latest automaker to offer its customers an easy path to charging at home by throwing in a complimentary home charger with the purchase of a 2025 Ioniq 5. The company has partnered with ChargePoint to bundle a HomeFlex Level 2 charger with the vehicle purchase. For customers that don’t have a garage or driveway where a home charger can be placed, a $400 charging credit is available instead.

Taking advantage of the free charger is pretty simple. Ioniq 5 customers create a profile on Hyundai’s Home Marketplace website, which offers energy solutions including solar panels and home energy storage systems for sustainable living as well as EV charging. After creating a profile, vehicle owners enter their zip code and some vehicle-specific information; a coupon code is delivered within five business days.

Easy EV Charger Installation

Hyundai’s Home Marketplace also facilitates installation of the free charger. Customers can answer questions and upload photos of their home and the planned location for the charger, and can book installations through a Hyundai Home approved service provider. Advisors are available to answer questions and guide customers through the installation process.

Ioniq 5 owners have 60 days from the date of purchase or their lease inception to redeem their free charger offer in 2025, and 120 days to complete hardwired installation of the charger.

ChargePoint Credit

It’s a similar process if a customer wants to take advantage of the $400 charging credit instead. Once they’ve entered their zip code and vehicle-specific information, they’re presented with information on how to redeem the $400 on ChargePoint’s website or on the ChargePoint mobile app.

Customers will need to set up a ChargePoint account if they don’t already have one, and once the coupon code is received, it can be applied within their ChargePoint account. The ChargePoint mobile app also helps with navigation to charging stations and can initiate charging sessions not only on ChargePoint chargers, but also on the many charging network that ChargePoint has agreements with throughout North America.

Customers have to redeem their $400 out-of-home charging credit code within 60 days of purchasing or leasing their 2025 Ioniq 5, and have two years from the date of redemption to use the credit.

Removing Barriers to EV Adoption

“Our first two complimentary offers were very successful,” said Olabisi Boyle, senior vice president, product planning and mobility strategy, Hyundai Motor North America. “We understand that having a home charger makes it easier to own an EV. By offering Hyundai Home Marketplace assistance and a complimentary charger, we are taking the stress and guesswork out of going electric. If you already have a Level 2 home charger or if you’d prefer a charge credit, then the next $400 in road trips are on us.”

Hyundai’s new program for Ioniq 5 purchasers shows the company understands the barriers standing in the way of electric car adoption and how to help customers make the switch as easy and seamless as possible. Free chargers, the Hyundai Home Marketplace and dedicated energy advisors to walk customers through the entire process help overcome roadblocks and answer any questions, creating a painless process for going electric.
