Hummer Electric Cars Sold Out in 10 Minutes

You say you’d like to plunk $100 down on the new Edition 1 limited edition 2022 Hummer EV? Well, you can’t. GMC sold out of the rare all-electric mega-wagons in just ten minutes. GMC opened reservations for its new zero emission Godzilla-sized SUV on October 20 as part of the vehicle’s global debut and several thousand buyers were put on the waiting list.

The Hummer EV Edition 1

For 2022, all of the Hummer EVs built will be the limited Edition 1 with an MSRP of $112,595. Its three electric motor system produces 1,000-horsepower and a whopping 11,500 pound-feet of torque for astounding zero to 60 mph times of just 3-seconds. Yep, zero to 60 in three seconds in a Terminator machine. Amazing! The new Hummer EV will offer up a range of 350 miles before it needs a charge and it can be charged up using an 800-volt DC fast charger to add 100 miles of range in only 10 minutes.

For those fortunate enough to have made it on the waiting list, the Edition 1 will come standard with 18-inch wheels shod in 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler tires, adaptive air suspension, four-wheel steering, and unique badging on the dash and startup screen. The hardtop “Infinity Roof” comes off and can be stored in the Hummer’s “frunk” for an open top experience.

Additional Hummer EV Features That Help It Stand Out

If that’s not enough, the Edition 1 also sports Super Cruise that is pretty much autonomous “hands-free” highway driving with automatic lane change capability. Plus, this tech-rich Hummer EV can actually drive you sideways, thanks to its four-wheel steering and a feature called CrabWalk. Not even the Batmobile can do that!

GMC says it will continue to sell the Edition 1 in the 2023 model year and will also add the Hummer EV3X variant in the fall of 2022. The slightly less expensive EV3X will offer many of the same features found in the Edition 1 including three electric motors, torque vectoring, and launch mode, but at a starting price of $99,995. The automaker will also add the EV2X in 2023 with its two electric motors starting at $89,995. For those willing to wait, a base model is coming for 2024 that will only set you back $79,995.

GMC says it is taking reservations for these future variants of the Hummer EV and all will be built at “Factory Zero,” the retooled Detroit-Hamtramck plant that is ground zero for GM’s all-electric vehicle production.
