This video unlocks the secrets of electric car battery longevity, care, and the latest innovations. It provides tips on how to maintain and extend the life of an electric car battery, discusses common issues and solutions, and highlights recent advancements in battery technology that are set to revolutionize the industry.
The electric battery powers so much of our modern world. Understanding some battery basics will help you make the most of your electric vehicle. Most EV batteries will last more than 10 years without any issues, and some will last even longer before needing to be replaced. If you're the owner of a hybrid, you'll likely never have to worry about replacing the battery. Hybrid car batteries are similar to EV batteries, but considerably smaller. On average, electric car batteries lose only about 1 to 2% of their range per year. But just because the battery degrades slightly doesn't mean it is not usable. It simply loses some of its range and charging efficiency. You can help maintain your battery by following a few helpful guidelines. Keep your EV charged between 60 and 80 percent. Minimize your use of level 3 DC fast charging. And avoid extreme temperatures over long periods of time. Federal regulations require automakers to provide an eight-year or 100,000 miles warranty period for EV batteries. Tesla is working to create a million-mile battery, which would likely never need to be replaced. When an old EV battery is removed, it can still be repurposed or recycled. Even the oldest EV batteries will still have up to 70% of their capacity left, meaning they can be used for many other energy storage needs. The smaller battery cells within EV battery packs can go on to be used in everything from home solar energy storage to powering streetlights. Battery technology is only improving. More innovations with EV batteries will soon be on the way. Thanks for watching.
