This video provides insights into the experience of owning an electric car. It covers various aspects such as daily driving, maintenance, and long-term benefits. The video highlights the positive feedback from electric car owners and explains why many people prefer EVs over traditional gasoline vehicles.
Electric cars feature a lot of new technology. Most drivers find that after making the switch to electric cars and learning how to live with them, they never go back to gasoline. One great thing is that electric motors produce all their torque right away, producing instantaneous acceleration. And whether you're going fast or sitting in traffic, electric cars are relaxing and silent to drive. In fact, they create so little noise pollution that they produce a sound at low speeds to alert pedestrians who may not hear them coming. You can also save money by switching to electric. One recent study of popular EVs calculated total ownership costs compared to their closest gasoline equivalents over 8 years of ownership and roughly 12,000 miles a year. Without exception, they discovered that driving electric was cheaper. Some vehicles showed a total ownership cost of up to 37% less, enough to buy another vehicle after 8 years. So while you might pay more up front for an electric car, that's just one part of the total cost. When comparing the larger price payment of an EV against the higher fueling and maintenance costs of a gasoline vehicle, the savings gained in the longer term make up for the higher price. And, thanks to the simplicity of electric drivetrains, you won't need to deal with major mechanical issues. Does this mean electric cars are more reliable? One recent survey suggests that owners may report slightly more issues than owners of gasoline vehicles in the first 4 years of ownership. However, while issues with electric vehicles do crop up, they are typically covered under warranty and do not involve complex mechanical issues. In fact, most issues were with technology features like infotainment screens, reversing cameras, and other gadgets. Since most issues with electric vehicles are software glitches, they can be solved with a reboot, an over-the-air software update, or a visit to a dealer. While technology is still evolving as more drivers switch to electric, the cost savings, sense of environmental stewardship, and superior driving experience make it no wonder that most electric car owners won't go back to gasoline.
